About the Company
Kadence Technology, Inc., also known as Kapitol Reef Aquatics, was founded to develop, perfect, manufacture and market a new breed of snorkels based upon pressure-balanced breathing in the aquatic environment. The entire focus for this company is to deliver best-of-class products, starting with the snorkel.By the way, if any adventurer is looking for a very beautiful place with clean, dry air, come visit Capitol Reef National Park in Utah. Or else just use the Kapitol Reef snorkel at any beautiful reef.
About The Founder:
Dr. Mark R. Johnson is a board-certified physician with a hospital-based internal medicine practice in Utah. He had very little snorkel / dive experience—and his wife even less— when they attended a medical conference in Kauai, Hawaii, July 1997. As part of the conference experience, they rented snorkels and gave this sport a try. Mark loved swimming with the tropical fish—his wife, Julie, did not. She felt that she was hyperventilating and couldn’t get past the anxious feeling of swimming with a snorkel. (Sound familiar?—even with a dry cap!) At that moment, it occurred to Dr. Johnson that traditional snorkels do not facilitate normal human breathing in the pressurized ambience of seawater.
The pursuit of a more physiologic snorkel began as a curiosity, but quickly evolved into a passionate pursuit by Dr. Johnson. Nine years and countless prototypes later, Dr. Johnson’s initial concept of pressure-balanced exhalation in the aquatic environment is proudly coming to fruition. We wish all to enjoy it.
